[[Hoh Head]], a prominent and impassable coastal headland in the background, as seen from a few hundred yards north of the [[Hoh River]] mouth. [[Hoh Head Overland Trail]] south trailhead is not much over a mile away, so it is a quick reconnoiter to investigate the bluff-climb and the south end of the upland path (without continuing on). Beyond Hoh Head is much less frequently visited terrain, and though mildly notorious, the trail is not long.
