Obvervation Point is a point, because the road is rounding a descending ridgeline of [[Happy Lake Ridge]], projecting over the [[Elwha River]] valley below. To make the sharp corner, a cut was made through the rock crest, and this left an exposed face that has become grown-over. It’s a good roadside geology-exhibit, too.
